Hi, I’m David.

I design for people operating inside a language or a system that was not designed with them in mind, and I build what I design. Informatics and human-computer interaction at the University of Iowa, graduating May 2027.

I have wanted to work with computers for as long as I can remember. The first time I built a web page in HTML, that was it.

I study informatics at the University of Iowa, human-computer interaction, with minors in Spanish and psychology. That combination is not incidental. Almost everything I build is for someone operating inside a language or a system that was not designed with them in mind.

The design half of my training makes me ask who is on the other side of the screen. The engineering half means I can build the answer rather than hand it off, which is why I keep ending up on the seam between the two. I care most about the decisions that get made under constraint: what got cut, what got measured, and what turned out to be wrong.

I am looking for product design and UX engineer roles starting after I graduate in May 2027, and a summer 2027 internship in parallel.

Design

User interviews, usability testing, A/B testing, KPI definition, click-rate baselines.
Accessibility
WCAG 2.2 AA: contrast auditing, tap targets, labelled controls. Adaptive light and dark theming.
Engineering
Dart and Flutter, Python and FastAPI, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, SQL, Swift. Supabase, Firebase, Google Cloud Run, Cloudflare Workers, Git and GitHub.I am proficient in all of this because I learned it shipping real work with AI tools. How I work with Claude.
Languages
Fluent in Spanish and English.
